Eric DID NOT tell my wife when she dropped our van off to have a check engine light diagnosed that symptoms must actually be occurring in order to successfully find out the cause. During their initial conversation which is accurately documented on his notes that the van at the time of check-in was operating normally. The rough idle is something that occurs intermittently. Eric, this is where you should have told my wife to bring the van back when this occurs again because odds are it won’t happen in the time you have it. This bit of information did me absolutely no good when the amount due was presented to me. Paying $189 for information I already obtained from O’Reilly Auto Parts for free did not make sense to me and admittedly made me mad. Yes, I do realize that this shop or any other for that matter does not “operate as a charity” but up front honesty and integrity would go a long way. I also understand this is the going rate and even if the technician spent more than an hour and drove the van multiple times to try to recreate the problem my expected response was not “the van is running perfectly” when I know that at the moment it might be but odds are it won’t be later. And to be clear, the one recommendation Eric did make, “bring it back when the problem occurs again” will NOT be happening because the job has been closed and applicable fees will surely be applied again.
Larry, Our we found the code P0306 Cylender 6 in history when the vehicle was not miss firing. I know it's frustrating that warranty company had declined and stopped us for further diag since the vehicle was running fine. If you still want us to move further and replace the part we can however the warranty will not cover the cost. Please bring it back when the situation arise and you won't be charged for same issue and we will come up to a plan in fixing it and present to the warranty company again.
